A new career and a new accredited credential? Yes, please. The IMA Laser Technician Course is provided in affiliation with NCLC (National Council on Laser Certification) and is fully accredited by all UAE Health Authorities for eligible candidates to obtain a laser technician license in Dubai. Founded in 2012, IMA is now considered the No.1 certification provider in the market and trains up to 200 laser technicians per year.
Why Now?
The COVID-19 crisis has meant that more and more healthcare professionals are trying to reinvent their careers and update their skills to remain competitive in the market. This has positively benefited training activities carried out by IMA for healthcare and beauty professionals to enter the aesthetic medicine industry, and more specifically aesthetic laser practice.
The laser training course is open to all beauty, healthcare and medical professionals. Those without any such qualifications may start with the laser hair removal course upon confirmation from one of the IMA Team members.
Take it from one our students, Rachael is a certified beautician that has recently begun her journey with IMA to achieve her Laser Technician License. “I enjoy what I do, but lately I have been longing to achieve something more, to expand my career, my earnings and then I found the IMA Laser Technician Course. The course has been fantastic thus far and I am very excited for what is to come once I complete it and where it will take me in my career.”
The Salary Prospects
Whilst a regular nurse salary usually starts at around AED 4,000 per month, laser technician salaries do tend to start at around AED 6,000. Successful technicians with versatile skills, high productivity and experience can also hope to see their salaries reach AED 8,000 to AED 10,000.
What Are The Regulations On Laser Practice
Whilst laser regulations around the world tend to vary hugely, with some countries having strict regulations in place and others barely checking the medical background of the practitioner, laser hair removal is tightly regulated in the UAE. Governing authorities such as DHA, MOH, DOH & DHCC have guidelines in place which anyone can access any time through their website or by paying them a visit in person. “We do receive a very large number of enquiries from candidates without beauty or medical background wanting to enter this industry, however, the UAE does not have any provision to allow such individuals to work in clinics with lasers.”, stated Servane Collette, General Director at IMA.
The Training Requirements
The UAE Guidelines require anyone wanting to be a laser technician to have a foundation qualification as a nurse (RN) or beauty therapist. The eligible candidates are required to undergo a formal theory and practical training via an accredited center like IMA which teaches them the theory of lasers, the practical aspects of laser hair removal, and certify them from the US NCLC (National Council on Laser Certification). Candidates must be able to show evidence of `hands-on` training, supervised cases and NCLC Certification in order to apply for a laser technician license. As a matter of fact, the IMA courses do meet this requirement and help aspiring students reach their accreditation.
Job Opportunities In Clinics
There is most definitely a high demand and turnover for laser technicians. Servane Collette says, “There is an increasing number of clinic owners and managers contacting IMA on a regular basis to find accredited laser technicians for their clinics, lately we have had as many as 1 to 2 per week.” With such rapid increase in interest for accredited laser technicians, it is now the time to get accredited to gain advantage in the field early on.
