Over The Years As A Therapist And Also As A Trainer, In What Specific Ways Have You Observed The Field Of Laser And Medical Aesthetics Evolving?
The pace at which medical aesthetics is evolving is commendable, everyday there is a new technology or product being launched, and one is better than the other. At this point, it becomes difficult on the part of the client and also the practitioner to choose. This progress means that the industry has become very client/patient centric in terms of companies manufacturing products and technologies which are less painful, with minimal to no downtime. Nowadays the focus is also on achieving results faster than older technologies.

A classic example is hair removal machines, previously hair removal used to be a very tedious, time consuming and a painful procedure, with the advent of newer technologies the scenario is different. The treatment time is almost halved or even less, and there are a few technologies which are almost painless and safe as well.

Previously, aesthetics was limited to only the privileged class of the society but now with so much exposure and availability it is accessible to everyone at very competitive prices. Practitioners now try to combine technologies in a single treatment to maximize the results unlike previously, where only one treatment would be done at a time. As a trainer I have seen that more and more doctors are opting for thorough training’s before diving into the aesthetics field.

What Potential Pitfalls And Challenges Need To Be Considered When Working In This Area?

As an aesthetic practitioner I would say never fall for technologies unless you have thoroughly researched about the technology and are 100 % sure about the treatment outcomes as the aesthetic market progresses at a very fast pace but not all the technologies are that good.

The next challenge in this field is to deliver results, on various occasions clients come with very high expectations and believe that results can be achieved in 1-2 sessions as if it were a magic wand. This is not the case however, and it’s our responsibility to help them understand the possible outcomes and manage their expectations. It is always good to promise less and deliver more.

How Has Your Own Professional Journey Evolved, Setting It Apart From Others?

I am not only an aesthetic practitioner but also a trainer as well so I always have to be up-to-date. I do a lot of research and readings related to aesthetics, this helps me to be a step ahead and also offer new treatments to my clients. In Aesthetics it’s never a one size fits all, so depending on the clients’ needs and concerns I always customise my treatments in order to deliver maximum satisfaction.

What Is Your Favourite Laser And What Is The Laser That Is Being Talked About But You Don’t Like So Much?

Having worked 12 years in the aesthetic industry has given me a fair opportunity to use many different lasers. But yes, I do have a favourite and that would be the Harmony XL Pro platform from Alma which fits a lot of hand pieces or different lasers on one platform, with this you can do an array of treatments starting from a basic photo facial to more complex treatments like skin resurfacing. There is a lot of hype about the Ulthera /HIFU technology, but in my opinion the results are not consistent. Moreover, the treatment costs are high and the results achieved are not outstanding.

What Are Some Tips And Tricks On Knowing How To Achieve The Best Outcomes When Working In The Field Of Medical Aesthetics?

First and foremost, a practitioner has to undergo a thorough training and needs to get the basics clear, no matter how much technology advances, the basics always remain the core. Keeping oneself updated with the latest trends and advances also plays an important role. I would recommend all practitioners to never shy away from trying and to make new treatment protocols based on your experiences provided they are scientific. What is also important in these times is being well connected to social media so that you can portray your set of skills to a larger audience.

Do You Exercise? What Is The Ideal Exercise Prescription To Look Good And Feel Great?

I am not a gym freak but I love the outdoors, so I love activities like walking, cycling and swimming. I keep it simple and go for long walks 3 times a week and do a little swimming and cycling on the weekends. That would be my fitness mantra in short.

Do You Follow A Specific Diet?

I am a total foodie and I love to try different cuisines all the time, so diet does not come even close to me. But actually, I recently started with intermittent fasting so my last meal is at around 7pm and I eat breakfast the next day at around 9am. This has helped me in reducing my weight and makes me feel light and energetic. In my opinion, intermittent fasting helps the body to auto repair and also burn fat.

What Is Your Pampering And Relaxation Routine?

I have a 3 year old daughter so once I get home after a busy day, playing with her really relaxes me. I do also love pampering myself with massages at least twice a month.
